Spotlight on Winslow

From mountaintops to marathons and classrooms to charitable events, people at Winslow are engaged in their communities. “Spotlight on Winslow” highlights the stories of Winslow’s work (and play) outside of the office.

Mark Perry, Senior Vice President, Brokerage Operations

As volunteer facilitators for Quincy’s English Talk Time, Mark and his wife Merry help adults practice and improve their English during free weekly conversation classes at the Thomas Crane Public Library.

Each class is loosely based on a theme. “Since many of our students are new to the U.S., we look for themes and language for everyday needs… like food, shopping, transportation, community, talking on the phone, and going to the doctor,” Mark explains, “But we try to make every class fun, so we always include some kind of conversation game and also bring in themes that are more playful.”

“The students are a lot of fun. They’re so appreciative of the program. And we are, too. We really enjoy getting to know people from all over the world and learning about their cultures,” says Merry.

Merry and Mark completed facilitator training in 2011 and 2012, respectively, and have been a Talk Time team since then.
